Mrs Dunn

When did you start working at Roseberry?
1998

What is your role in school?
Headteacher

Why did you become a teacher?
I wanted to become a teacher because I love working with children. It’s a fun job because every day is different. I wanted to be someone who made a difference to people’s lives and I was inspired by some fantastic teachers I had when I was at school. I feel very lucky to now be headteacher of such a wonderful school.

What is your favourite subject and why?
It’s hard to pick a favourite because I love them all but I think it would have to be Geography. I think Geography has the power to open pupils’ eyes to the world around them which I find incredibly exciting as a teacher. Geography is everywhere you look and for me, maps signal the possibility of travel beyond our local area out into the big wide world.

Do you have a favourite book?
My favourite children’s book has to be Mog the Forgetful Cat by Judith Kerr. My mam used to read it to me when I was little and I always thought it was funny that someone made the burglar a cup of tea while they waited for the police at the end!

What is your favourite food?
I love a nice roast chicken dinner with massive Yorkshire puddings.

What is your favourite sport?
I really love watching figure skating as I enjoyed ice skating when I was younger. I even had my own ice skates!

Do you have any hobbies?
I love reading and I am part of a book group with my friends where we get together and discuss the books we have read. I also love going for walks in the countryside or at the coast.

What do you like about working at Roseberry?
I love talking to the children about the work they are doing and finding out what they have been up to. I am very proud of them all and how resilient they are. The staff here are an amazing team and I love how everyone supports each other. I wouldn’t want to work anywhere else.
