Pupil Premium Impact Report for 2015-2016
EYFS: Nursery
Overall, 80% pupils entered 3 year old nursery with below (or well below) typical development for their age in Reading/Writing/Number. On leaving nursery, 80% are working in line with typical development for their age.
Less PP children are working in line with expectations in W/M than non PP. In reading, more PP pupils are working in line with expectations than non PP.
Overall, 100% pupils made typical progress, with 52% pupils making good progress and 20% making outstanding progress.
EYFS: Reception
On entry to Reception, 44.4% of pupils were in line with typical development for their age, 33.3% pupils were below with 22.2% significantly below. At the end of Reception, overall across the 12 strands, 56% were at least in line with typical development for their age having achieved a good level of development compared to 69% nationally. However results would have been above national average had not several pupils left during the summer term.
In Literacy & Numeracy 100% of all pupils made typical progress from their staring points, with 16% pupils making good progress from their starting points, and 10% making outstanding progress. 33% Pupil Premium (PP) children achieved a good level of development compared to 67% non PP. This gap has decreased slightly from 38% in 2015.
Year 1 Phonics
79% pupils achieved the required standard – in line with the national average of 81%.
(one pupil was one mark off so would have put us at 84%)
PP: School 57% Other 92%; National Other 83%. The gap has widened this year due to the high number of SEN PP children (44%).
Key Stage 1
Attainment is above national average in all 3 subjects at the expected standard and at greater depth.
PP pupils outperformed others nationally and also PP nationally in Maths and Reading.
In writing, PP pupils performed less well than others nationally and disadvantaged nationally at the expected standard (64:70) and at greater depth, but the disadvantaged pupils performed better than other pupils in school at greater depth.
All pupils made at least expected progress in all subjects except 2 pupils in Maths (both SEN).
Key Stage 2
Attainment is slightly above national averages at the end of KS 2. 60% achieved the expected standard in R/W/M compared to 53% nationally.
Reading was in line at 67%, while Maths (73%) and GPS (80%) were above. Writing was lower than the national average (73%) at 67%. However this exceeded our target of 60%.
Scaled scores in reading and maths were affected by boys’ and SEN pupils’ attainment, although results were better in maths. 33.3% pupils were SEN.
PP pupils (12) outperformed non PP (3) pupils in all subjects at the expected standard overall and greater depth. PP pupils broadly in line with national average in maths (103.1:104.1) and reading (101.8:103.8).
Progress scores were adversely affected this year due to a range of factors e.g. pupil mobility; medical conditions and non-submission of Key Stage 1 data from previous schools.
