Our 90th Birthday

We celebrated our 90th birthday in December 2011.

Some of the events included:

  • 1920s fashion parade (staff and pupils wore fashions from the Roaring 20s).
  • Harlepool Museum brought a range of interesting objects and costumes to school for the pupils and their parents to view and handle.
  • The pupils and staff contributed to the contents of our timecapsule which was buried in the quadrangle garden by Mrs Dorothy Rand, our local historian and friend of the school.
  • Former pupils from all over the globe visited our exhibition of past memorabilia during our open days.
  • Pupils and staff performed a 1920s revue for parents and guests.
  • Our commemorative stained glass window was unveiled by the Chairman of Durham County Council, Councillor Dennis Morgan. Special guests included Nan Rawlings, (aged 88) our oldest female visitor to the exhibition and Mr John Hall, our oldest male visitor (93). Both of our guests received a gift and the children were enthralled at their recounts of the school in days gone by.
  • A special birthday party was held for all the children when they each received an individual 90th birthday cake.

A great time was had by all! Have a look at some of our photographs from our special day.
